The 5-block structure
Every high-converting Shopify description has these five blocks, in this order:
- Hook — one sentence that names the problem or desire.
- Promise — what changes when they own this.
- Proof — specs, materials, certifications, or a stat.
- Objection-killer — shipping, returns, sizing, guarantee.
- CTA — a soft nudge that reinforces the promise.
Hook examples that actually work
- "Your morning coffee deserves better than a chipped mug from 2019."
- "Sleep hot? This is the only sheet set we've tested that still feels cool at 3am."
- "Made for people who hate how loud their kitchen sounds at 6am."
Notice: no adjectives like "premium" or "luxury." Specific situations always beat vague superlatives.
The SEO block (don't skip this)
Shopify's default theme renders the description in a single block. Add an H2 with your primary keyword exactly once, in natural language — "Why our [keyword] is different" works in almost every category. Internal-link to 2–3 related products. That's 80% of the on-page SEO you need.
Mobile formatting rules
- Paragraphs max 2 sentences. Long blocks get scrolled past.
- Use a bullet list for specs — never a paragraph of comma-separated features.
- Put the price-justifying detail (materials, origin, craftsmanship) in the first 100 words.
What to delete from your current descriptions
- The phrase "high quality" — meaningless, lowers trust.
